Willikies now 4th in ABFA Premier League

Willikies have jumped into fourth place in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Premier League.

They achieved this by recording a 3 – 1 victory over Ottos Rangers at the ABFA Technical Center on Monday.

Goals by Akeem Weekes in the 14th minute and D’Jarie in the 44th minute gave Willikies a 2 – 0 halftime lead.

Sheppard had earlier failed to score from a penalty, which was saved by the Five Islands goalkeeper in the 42nd minute.

Junior Benjamin reduced the deficit for Five Islands by scoring in the 60th minute.

Novelle Francis Jr. sealed his team’s victory by scoring the third and final goal for Willikies in the 87th minute.

Their sixth win in 10 matches lifted Willikies past Old Road into fourth place with 19 points.

Five Islands remain second from bottom of the standings on two points after suffering their ninth loss in 11 matches.

Garden Stars extended their unbeaten run and lead by recording their 10th win in 11 matches in the first division league on Monday.

A goal by Sadique Adams in the 75th minute gave Garden Stars a 1 – 0 win over Bolans at the ABFA Technical Center. The win lifted Garden Stars to 31 points, 7 points ahead of John Hughes who are in second place.

A fifth defeat in 10 matches left Bolans in sixth place on 15 points.

Fort Road and Lion Hill played to a goalless draw in a First Division affair at Fort Road.

The result allowed Lion Hill to overtake Bendals in fourth place.

Lion Hill advanced to 17 points from 11 matches, while Fort Road advanced to 11 points from 11 encounters.

The ABFA domestic programme continues with matches in the Second Division at 4:30pm on Wednesday, 15th February.
