T. N. Kirnon Primary was among the winners in the Mini Boys’ Primary Division of the Cool & Smooth Inter-Schools Basketball League at the YMCA Sports Complex on Monday.

T. N. Kirnon defeated Greenbay Primary 11 – 2 in one of the five games contested.

Delroy Francis scored five points and Ajay Ponde converted four points for T. N. Kirnon Primary, while Malique Leblanc scored two points for Greenbay Primary.

Also securing wins were Buckleys, Liberta and Villa primary schools.

Clairmont Carrington scored his team’s three points to lead Buckleys Primary 3 – 0 victory over the Cobbs Cross Primary.

Ashavin Pelle and Dreshawn Lawrence each converted four points to lead Liberta Primary to a 10 – 2 victory against the J. T. Ambrose Primary.

Jaden Russell scored two points for J. T. Ambrose Primary.

Villa Primary prevailed 12 – 4 against the Golden Grove Primary.

Omarie Nacimiento sank six points, Raheem Grimmond, four points for Villa Primary, while Taheem Herbert and Johandry Donalds each scored two points for Golden Grove Primary.

St. Joseph’s Academy prevailed 24 – 15 against Combined in the only Mini Secondary Division encounter to take place Monday.

Iczjaire Sebastian shot a game high of 10 points, Joshua James contributed six points and Nathan Matthew chipped in four points for St. Joseph’s Academy.

Jordan Andrew had seven points and Derrick Perez scored six points for Combine.

Originally scheduled to take place at the JSC Sports Complex, the matches in the schools’ basketball league have been moved to the YMCA. This is to facilitate minor repairs to the court at the JSC Sports Complex, which is now closed to regular activities.

This has also forced the temporary suspension of all games in this season’s Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Second Division.

According to a release from the ABBA, “Over the past few weeks, the floor has become very unsafe for playing. As such, to protect the players against impending injuries, the ABBA Executive has made the decision to close the court, until further notice, to facilitate minor repairs.

“Effective Monday, 13th February, 2023, all division two games will be suspended until the issues with the court have been rectified.”
