The driver of the Honda Fit motorcar en route to a UPP rally last evening lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the sidewalk outside the Red Cross’ thrift shop on the Old Parham Road.

The driver, whose name Pointe Xpress was unable to ascertain up to press time, claimed he was cut off by an SUV that turned left onto Old Parham Road from Coronation Road.
Eyewitnesses told Pointe Xpress, however, that the SUV had already executed the turn and it appeared that the driver of the car driver, who was allegedly traveling at a fast rate of speed, was unable to slow down as he headed toward the roundabout.
To avoid hitting the SUV, he applied his brakes and swung right, crashing into the sidewalk.
Tyre marks on the road were visible for several yards.
