While most people are focused on the impending general elections, the Training and Development Manager at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort is urging people with a passion for hospitality to sign up for a transformative training programme.

The popular resort’s annual hospitality training programme is geared towards youths aged 18 – 30 and will offer the opportunity to learn from the best at the hotel in its various departments.

Carlene Spencer made the appeal during a recent media appearance.

“If you are looking for work experience, if you are looking to be a part of the hospitality industry, we want to encourage you to apply for the hospitality training programme…so, we want to encourage persons to get involved.

“If you are between the ages of 18 and 30, please apply for the hospitality training programme. Trust me, it will change your life and it will give you skills that will take you through life,” Spencer said.

After completing the programme, which is now in its sixteenth year, twenty-five people will be selected for an internship following an intensive interview process.  The selected participants will receive a stipend to work Monday – Friday no later than 6pm.

They will be evaluated at the end of the 10-week programme and, if successful, will receive a certificate of completion and other credentials.

Those interested can apply at sattraining@grp.sandals.com or drop off a physical form with their resume at Sandals security booth at the back gate.

It should be addressed to the Training and Development Manager and must indicate which department they are interested in training in.
