Point Ville Communications, news presenter, Elizabeth Fane, has been sharing her
experiences with young people who attend the Island Academy International.
Last week, Fane was invited to speak with the young people during their second
assembly. According to the school, Fane delivered a witty and impactful session on
the power of effective and positive communications.
“She shared invaluable advice from her career in broadcasting and diplomacy (she
was once attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to the students; including
how to communicate successfully in a variety of situations and for different
purposes,” a statement from the school indicated.

In her presentation, Fane underscored the importance of self-confidence, eye-
contact and physical posture for modeling good conversation. “She spoke about
how young people should be the agents of change when it comes to dangers of
communications on social media. In particular, she stressed the need for young
people not to be afraid to challenge hurtful behaviour online,” according to the
statement.
The statement called the delivery ‘powerful’ and well-received by both students
and faculty at Island Academy International.
