JCI Antigua – a youth development organisation – has made a significant donation to the Oncology Department at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC).

A spokesman for the group said the latest donation to the department came from the proceeds of a “Colour Run and Fitness Jam” held in June this year.

“We will be making donations throughout the year to various groups from the proceeds of this event. Our first donation to the Oncology Department of $5,000.00 was done last Friday. It’s the latest donation to the department as, over the past several years, JCI has made annual donations to the department,” the spokesman revealed.

The donation forms part of the JCI Senator Leandra James’ Cancer Awareness Campaign.

Meanwhile, JCI Antigua has confirmed that it will be sending a delegation to the Commonwealth of Dominica to participate in the JCI West Indies 62nd National Convention from 16th to 23rd October, 2022.

According to the organisation, the annual conference allows JCI members from across the region to “share ideas and experiences on creating positive change in the region”.

“Convention is a time for us to reconnect with old colleagues, meet new friends and expand your network in a remarkable way!” a statement said, adding that training and other opportunities will also be made available to participants.
