Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, E.P Chet Greene, has extended
congratulations to his Grenadian counterpart Joseph Andall, on the occasion of that
country’s celebrations of 50 years of political independence.
“Happy Independence to the government and people of the Spice Isle. After 50
years of self-rule there is much to be proud of and the future looks bright,” Greene
wrote to Minister Andall.
On February 7, 1974, Grenada became the first territory within the Windward and
Leeward Islands grouping to attain its political independence.
Antigua and Barbuda and Grenada are now art of the Orgaisation of Eastern
Caribbean States (OECS) which came into being in 1981. Both countries have
enjoyed strong fraternal relations as they share a common heritage and history.
