A farmer from the Agricultural South-Central District, Orlando Fraser, recently
reaped a 60-pound pumpkin from his farm.
In a statement congratulating Mr. Fraser, the Ministry of Agriculture noted that
the seedlings for the pumpkin were planted last October. It also stated that
farmers in Antigua and Barbuda, often endure hardships in farming such as
insufficient water, praedial larceny and storage issues, just to name a few.
Despite these challenges, the ministry recognizes that farmers still produce
under negative conditions and ensure that they produce the best quality produce
for consumers.
“We acknowledge farmers who continue to produce and contribute to the food
security of the nation. Keep up the good work!” the statement concluded.
