A male pensioner died yesterday on the steps of a beauty salon on Corn Alley and South Street.
Up to last evening, the man’s identity remained unknown.
It is believed that the elderly man, who was walking through the area, felt unwell and decided to sit on the steps of the building that houses the beauty salon.
People who operate small businesses in the area realised something was wrong after the man was observed sitting in the same position, motionless, for an unusually long time.
The EMS were summoned, and it was determined that he had died.
District Doctor, Delrose Christian, visited the scene and officially pronounced the man dead.
His body was then transported to a funeral home where it will remain until an autopsy is conducted to determine his cause of death.
