The first Antigua and Barbuda national earmarked to travel into space – Keisha
Schahaff – will begin training shortly for the journey aboard the Virgin Galactic
craft.
Schahaff and her daughter will be traveling to New Mexico for training to become
world-citizen astronauts. They will be making history for the nation of Antigua &
Barbuda being the first from the Caribbean to go into space and will be given the
official title of Astronaut.
APUA Inet recently presented her with a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G handset in
preparation for her space travel. Inet’s donation will aid in the future astronaut’s
recording of her journey to produce a documentary that will be shown in schools
across the nation.
Keisha Schahaff won the opportunity to be a passenger aboard the first commercial
flight into space on Virgin Galactic in 2021. She and her daughter are traveling to
New Mexico for training to become world citizen astronauts, today.
“She [Keisha] would have mentioned in some interviews that her daughter is very
much into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education
and this is going to be a launching pad for her in her career as well. At Inet, we are
committed to girls in ICT and girls in STEM. So that struck a special chord for us,”
shared APUA Inet’s Head of Sales, Cathrona Samuel.
“… I am very much looking forward to working with our nation and our Caribbean
as well and for the younger generation moving forward in a positive way and, you
know, space is only the beginning. Thank you so much”, said Schahaff.
Schahaff encourages people to follow her on Instagram as she chronicles her
journey in outer space. Her Instagram handle is @keisha_schahaff.
