Prime Minister Gaston Browne had some kinds words to say about Parliamentary
Secretary, Sen. Shenella Govia, with whom he shares a common birthday.
Speaking on Friday at a joint birthday celebration at the Office of the Prime
Minister, PM Browne referred to Sen. Govia as ‘a standard bearer’ for the youth of
the nation based on her accomplishments over the years.
He said she joined the ABLP as a teenage and when he recognised her potential, he
invited her to work along with him in the then Office of the Leader of the
Opposition. Afterwards, when the ABLP won the 2014 general elections, she was
named a senator and recently, recognizing the many contributions towards the
success of the party and government, she was promoted to a Parliamentary
Secretary.
“Even as we look at the senate and there are likely to be some changes, Sen. Govia
shall be a constant because you are the bridge between our generation and the
future generation,” he pointed out.
He urged her to continue her good works and be assured of the love and confidence
from the senior leadership of the party and government.
