Telemaque to highlight the significance of a hub to regional shippers

Chief Executive Officer of the Antigua Port Authority, Darwin Telemaque is in
Martinique for a major regional conference that will examine the critical issue of
connectivity.
The Connectivity Conference of the Greater Caribbean is taking place this week at
Saint Luce in Martinique and Telemaque is attending in his capacity as Chairman
of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean and Chairman of the OECS
Port Committee. Telemaque also serves as Vice President of the International
Committee of Ports of the Organisation of American States.
“I will be addressing the issue surrounding Aviation and Maritime connectivity. I
have been asked to focus on the need for regional hubs. I will highlight, 1.
Characteristics of Hubs. 2. The role of hubs in creating greater efficiencies in
regional transport systems.3. How hubs create critical mass and I will then
highlight examples of regional aviation hubs as well as maritime hubs,” he told
Pointe Express in an exclusive interview.
Telemaque has been leading the charge to have Antigua and Barbuda become a
regional transshipment hub for cargo destined for the OECS or the wider
Caribbean following the upgrade of the port facilities in St. John’s.
