The Rum Runners spent last week in Miami racing in Act 1 of the Youth Foiling Gold Cup (YFGC).

The YFGC qualifying series, which lasted from Tuesday to Thursday, saw Antigua and Barbuda finishing in 1st place leading into finals.

After abandoning the race on Friday due to low wind conditions, the 69F fleet sailed into the first and only day of finals on Saturday.

Conditions were less than ideal with an average of 3 – 4 knots gusting 5 – 6 knots throughout the day.

The conditions allowed for three races in the final series in which Team Antigua and Barbuda finished in 2nd, 5th, and 2nd place (the last race being double points), wrapping up the week in 3rd place overall.

Team Antigua Barbuda continue their quest today in Miami in the Bacardi Cup onboard the 69F.

After the Bacardi Cup, the team will fly to Cagliari, Sardinia to train with their newly commissioned Persico 69F.

Regrettably, the team is now without their lone female teammate, Junella King, who suffered a recent leg injury which, for now has ended her part in the campaign.

Teresa Mairone has taken over as Flight Controller under Skipper, Rocco Falcone with support from Mainsail Trimmer, Filippo Amonti.
