Over one hundred participants from the National Public Library’s Annual Summer
Camp embarked on a unique and educational journey to Government House.
The visit, organized under the 2023 theme All Together Now, aimed to enhance
children’s reading and lifelong learning skills through immersive experiences such
as tours, interviews, and role-playing.
During the visit to Government House, the students had the privilege of an
audience with the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, Sir Rodney
Williams. They were warmly received and engaged in an enriching conversation
with Sir Rodney, gaining insights into the nation’s history and journey towards
political independence, Government House, and the distinguished individuals who
had served as Governors General.
Accompanied by the dedicated team from the National Public Library, including
Director Ryllis Mannix and staff members Hyacinth Joshua, Jessica Gilpin, Staria
Attwood, and Olivette Hillhouse, the children were taken on a tour of Government
House.
The attached photo (provided by Photogenesis), captured one set of children from
the Library’s Summer Camp interacting with His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams
and library personnel. These photographs serve as lasting memories of an
educational adventure that will undoubtedly leave a positive impact on the young
participants.
