Spanish Heat blow out Ottos Clippers in Division II basketball

Spanish Heat blew out Daryll Matthew’s Ottos Clippers by 31 points in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association’s (ABBA) Second Division on Wednesday night.

Spanish Heat romped to a 88 – 57 victory over Clippers in their Zone 2 affair at the JSC Sports Complex.

Steven Matthew shot a game high of 21 points, Carlos Saurez scored 13 points and Rohland Hamilton converted 12 points for Spanish Heat.

Clippers had a topscore of 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Etian Davis chipped in with 10 points for Ottos Clippers.

The ABBA Second Division will continue with a Zone 2 double header at the JSC Sports Complex on 28th January.

Cutie’s Ovals Young Guns will tackle Wadadli Elites2 at 6:45pm while Flyers2 will take on Caribbean Pharmaceuticals Fearless Crew1 at 8:30pm.

Meanwhile, ABBA’s General Secretary, Jennell Willette, has saidthe organisati0on hopes to complete the preliminary stage of the Second Division by the end of February with the playoffs scheduled for early March 2023.

She continued that the ABBA First Division league is set to shoot off on 19th February.

Registration for Division One is now open to participating teams and will close by mid-February.

WIllette said ABBA would not be able to disclose how many teams will participate in the First Division competition until the registration period has ended.

The Division One league was suspended for the last three years due to the pandemic.

The last edition was staged in 2019 and was won by Cutie’s Ovals Ojays.
