The youth of the nation are the focus of two-days of events at Government House this
weekend organized through the Office of the Governor General. The Youth Future
Leaders Opportunities Expo (FLOE), is set to take place on the lawns of Government
House on March 16th and 17th, 2024. This innovative event aims to empower young
minds with the tools and insights necessary for future leadership roles.
A release from Government House noted that with one in every three members of the
2.6 billion persons in the 56-member Commonwealth of Nations falling between the
ages of 15 – 29 years old, it is imperative to focus on initiatives that cater to our youth.
The Youth FLOE seeks to bridge this gap by bringing together families, young people,
and local service organizations over a two-day period to explore opportunities for youth
development.
"We are thrilled to spearhead the Youth FLOE," said His Excellency Sir Rodney
Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda. "This event presents a unique
platform for collaboration, mentorship, and inspiration, paving the way for the next
generation of leaders.]

The response from service organizations has been overwhelmingly positive, with all
available slots booked for participation in the Expo. This enthusiastic response
underscores the relevance and importance of initiatives geared towards youth
development in our community. The event can accommodate a total of 15
organizations, and all slots have been filled.
New Feature: Youth Voices @ FLOE
This year, Youth FLOE introduces a new feature: Youth Voices @ FLOE. This
innovative platform offers young people the opportunity to explore real-life scenarios
through creative expression. Participants will engage in two one-hour sessions each
day, led by experienced facilitators.
Through drama, poetry, song, and pantomime, participants will immerse themselves in
various situations, responding with their own unique perspectives and insights. Co-hosts
will offer guidance, fostering a supportive environment for youth to express themselves
and share their voices. It’s a dynamic opportunity for young minds to shine and make
their voices heard!
