A resident of the Rural North Constituency, Abena St. Luce, has donated to the
students and staff of Cedar Grove Primary School, which included school supplies
and assistance with renovations.

St. Luce said her motivation for the donations came from a recognition of the
importance of providing a conducive learning environment for young minds. She
was able to secure the support of local businesses and generously contributed to the
renovation and upgrade of several areas of the school plant.
“This included renovations to the student and faculty restrooms: This work
includes the repairs and replacement of plumbing fixtures, painting, tiling of walls,
floors, and countertops, and the installation of an impressive motivational mural
designed and created by young local artist, Alijah Richards. The mural, spanning
across the student restroom walls, depicts a colourful underwater scene, rich with
positive imagery and inspiring messages geared towards the young students,” St.
Luce explained.
She also donated specialty items and learning tools, cookware, silverware,
bakeware, appliances, walkie-talkies, educational games, and office equipment.
St. Luce stated, “I am a firm believer that if you wish to have a positive impact on
your country you must start with the youth. There is no investment more valuable.”
Ms. St. Luce also shared, “I was overwhelmed and humbled by the enthusiastic
support received from the community and local businesses when they learned of
my desire to develop projects to promote positive youth development. I look
forward to the many positive developments that will continue to arise from these
partnerships.”
At a brief presentation, St. Luce introduced the young creator of the restroom
mural, Alijah Richards who briefly spoke on the inspiration behind his artwork. In
attendance also were, Parliamentary Representative Charles “Max” Fernandez and
Senator Samantha Marshall, Minister of State within the Ministry of Health,
Wellness, the Environment and Social Transformation.
