Prime Minister’s Home and Business Lighting Competition winners announced

The Ministry of Creative Industries and Innovation (MCII) announced the winners of the Prime Minister’s Home and Business Lighting Competition on Tuesday.

In a statement which expressed gratitude to all participants, MCII pointed out the creativity and originality of the entries which made a positive impression on the judges.

“Our Judges were impressed with the creativity and ingenuity as scores of entrants displayed themes covering winter wonderland, merry wonderland, the festival of lights, and nativity scenes for both home and business.”

The competition divided the country into zones which were further separated into residential and commercial entrants.

In the Business category, 1st place was taken by Shoul’s Toys, Gifts and Housewares while 2nd place went to Shoe Palace and 3rd place to the George Pigotts Mall.

In the East, Chatura Phillip emerged the winner with Marilyn Marsh in 2nd place and Kay Lewis in 3rd.

Vernelle Weste took the top spot in the South. She was followed by 2nd runner up Philmore Braithwaite and 3rd place recipient Roland Joseph.

Rawlins Andrew took 1st place in the West followed by Dawn Peters who placed 2nd and Henson James who placed 3rd.

In the North, 1st place was secured by Carolyn Perry while Saskia Stuart Young’s entry secured 2nd place and Jean Pierre Shoul placed 3rd.

Successful participants in the residential category will receive a $3000.00 first prize, $2000.00 second prize and $1000.00 third prize.

The winners of the business category received cash rewards in equivalent amounts.

All qualified entrants in the residential category received a 100 percent electricity waiver for December while commercial participants received a 50 percent waiver on their December bill.
