A police officer – one of the outriders within the police department- tragically lost
his life in a vehicular accident on Monday morning.
Police spokesman Inspector Frankie Thomas has confirmed the death of Constable
Robert Dyer Jnr, whose death occurred in the vicinity of Luna Park on the Sir
Sydney Walling Highway.
Ironically, according to Insp. Thomas, Dyer was traveling from east to west on a
motorcycle when it collided head-on with another vehicle traveling in the opposite
direction. His death was said to be instantaneous.
Moments after the accident, video footage of his body was being shared widely on
social media, even before the body was covered.
The police spokesman said Dyer was 39 years old at the time of his death. He was
a father and married to a police officer.
Insp. Thomas described Dyer as one of the better outriders in the police force and
was lost for words in trying to comprehend what may have led to his untimely
death.
His loss has left the police force in a state of mourning as well as the village of
Willikies, with double losses, as just a few days earlier, on September 1, Tyrese
Benjamin lost his life on the same highway.
Dyer's death is now the sixth road fatality for the year.
