SportsWorld (Antigua) – A new digital publication is being launched on Wednesday 7 April 2021 to provide additional coverage of events and activities on-and-off the playing arena.

The brainchild of experienced regional journalist and commentator Colin James, the 22-page tabloid-style magazine will go online semi-weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.

SportsWorld is published by High Stakes Media Groups, a registered Antiguan media business. The inaugural issue is dedicated to cricket, highlighting the just-concluded drawn series between the West Indies and Sri Lanka in Antigua; Cricket West Indies’ (CWI’s) aborted annual general meeting; and a special feature on the late Clarvis Jarvis, the respected guru who is noted for outstanding administrative work.

There is also an article on Alzarri Joseph taking up an English county cricket contract, and a donation of gear and equipment by Cricket Kindness, a London-based charity.

Football is featured prominently, with FIFA calling on the local authorities to postpone elections until next year, and the Benna Boys overcoming the odds in their first two World Cup qualifying matches for Qatar 2022.

Upcoming issues of SportsWorld will review the West Indies tour of Bangladesh, the regional Super50 Cup, the exciting ABCA Super 40 competition; Cejhae Greene’s qualification for the re-arranged Tokyo 2020 Olympics and other track-and-field news, including the resurfacing of the YASCO track; the redevelopment of the famed Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG) and other sporting events.

Antiguan and regional sports bodies, clubs and athletes can email their information to: highstakesmediagroups@gmail.com or sportsmediaanu@gmail.com. Mobile telephone contact is: +1 (268) 786-0115/734-1966.
