The Community Development Division has announced that it has been

successful in its efforts to raise funds to assist a 7-year-old burn victim.

The Division said it raised $2,373.00 for the family of 7-year-old burn victim

T’rique Jeffrey of Swetes Village. The Community Development and Citizens’

Engagement Division, on Wednesday, handed over a cheque to the family.

The Division reported that the money represented the proceeds from a barbeque

held to raise funds for the burn victim.

Present to hand over the funds to the family was the Permanent Secretary within

the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Transformation, Colin O’Keefe, the

Director of Community Development and Citizens’ Engagement Division, Dale

O’Brien, and the staff of the South Zone Team within the department.

Jeffery suffered serious burns to 52 percent of his body in an accident, at his home,

in May this year and was medically airlifted to the Dominican Republic, where he

continues to receive treatment through the financial assistance of the Calvin Ayre

Foundation (CAF).

The Community Development and Citizens’ Engagement Division wish to extend

gratitude to its sponsors Christos Supermarket, Chase Distributors, T.I.N.Y

Supermarket, Little Canton Supermarket, Cassandra Thomas of Fresh & Easy

Neighborhood Grocery, Bernard Percival, E&M Restaurant, GCS Bottling Co. Ltd,

Brownies Bakery, Central Marketing Corporation, O.H.K Supermarket, staff and

others who contributed to make the fundraiser a reality.
