In an effort to empower the youth and raise awareness about cervical cancer
prevention, the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Cervical Cancer
Elimination Team, has launched an exciting initiative – a Cervical Cancer
Awareness Poster Competition.

Themed “Her Health, Our Mission, and Cervical Cancer,”the competition invites
young artists aged 8-18 from schools across Antigua and Barbuda to showcase
their creativity and contribute to the fight against cervical cancer.

Scheduled to run until 16th February 2024, the competition requires participants to
design posters highlighting the importance of ending cervical cancer in the region.
The submissions will be judged based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and
visual impact.

Winners will be announced on February 23, 2024, with prizes awarded to the top
posters in two age categories: 8-12 and 13-18. The winning posters will be featured
on the Ministry of Health’s Facebook page and displayed at various locations,
amplifying the message of cervical cancer awareness.

Participants are encouraged to submit their handcrafted posters, ensuring they
adhere to the size requirements of 18 inches in width and 24 inches in length.
Additionally, the artwork must prominently feature the color teal, symbolizing
support for cervical cancer awareness.
This initiative not only aims to engage young minds in creative expression but also
to foster a deeper understanding of the importance of cervical cancer prevention
and early detection. By involving the youth, the Ministry hopes to instill a sense of
responsibility and empower them to become advocates for positive health practices
within their communities.

As the deadline for submissions approaches on February 16, 2024, the Ministry
urges all eligible students to participate actively in this meaningful campaign.
Through their artwork, young artists have the opportunity to make a tangible
impact in raising awareness and contributing to the elimination of cervical cancer
in Antigua and Barbuda.
