Adrian Nurse of Liberta has been sentenced to two months in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including assaulting a female, being armed with an offensive weapon—a cutlass—and using threatening language.
Nurse appeared before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel in District B of the Magistrate’s Court, where he admitted to all charges. According to police reports, on March 19 in Liberta, Nurse armed himself with a cutlass with the intent to commit certain felonious acts. He was also charged with using threatening language, which is a breach of the public peace, and assaulting Chelsea Matthias, an offense under the Small Charges Act.
The court heard that Nurse held the cutlass just inches away from Matthias’ nose and threatened to chop it off.
As a result, the magistrate sentenced the 50-year-old man to two months and seven days for the assault charge, one month for being armed with an offensive weapon, and fourteen days for using threatening language. The sentences are to run concurrently.
Meanwhile, Dequan Pryce, 20, of Grays Farm, appeared before the court on charges of illegal possession of a .32 revolver and six rounds of .32 ammunition, both offenses under the Firearms Act.
Pryce pleaded not guilty, and his case has been adjourned until June 24 and 25, when his trial is set to commence.
