The case in which the police are alleging that a Belmont woman defrauded another woman in relation to her handling of what is locally known as ‘box money’ opened in the magistrate court on Monday.

Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel is hearing the case where the police have charged Keithesha Edwards of Belmont for defrauding one of her clients in the amount of $4,800.00.

During the period October 2, 2023 and July 31, 2024, the client gave money to Edwards for the ‘box hand’ with the expectation that she would get a single lump sum payment when the box ended. That never happened and the matter was reported to the police.

The case has been adjourned until April 23. The court gave a short adjournment time as Edwards appeared in court on Monday visibly pregnant.
