Dr. Ruby Lake Richards to receive official funeral

The Antigua and Barbuda national, who was a member of the first cohort of
students at the nascent University College of the West Indies, later known as the
University of the West Indies in 1948, Dr. Ruby Lake Richards has died and will
receive an official funeral.
This decision was made by Cabinet, at its regular meeting on Wednesday.  Dr.
Lake-Richards was a recent recipient of the second-highest National Honours.
Additionally, she was also honoured by the University of the West Indies at a
ceremony held at the Five Islands campus, in Antigua and Barbuda.
She was a medical doctor who continued to provide for her patients up until she
reached 95 years of age.
Cabinet recalled that Dr. Reginald Alford Walwyn was also of that UWI cohort.
He too, received a National Honour in November 2021 and was given an official
funeral upon his death.
