Community First hit by systems outage

A system blackout at Community First Cooperative Credit Union is causing chaos and panic among the financial institution’s customers.

The outage took place on Tuesday and was not resolved up to closing time yesterday.

Community First did not reveal the cause of the problem but told customers, “We are working to address an outage on our network that has affected our Online Services and Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) services.”

Anxious and frustrated account holders are now worried that they could default on financial obligations as the credit union has implemented a $200 daily limit on withdrawals.

It is believed one reason for implementing this limit is that the credit union cannot access information relating to its clients or their account balances.

The credit union operated from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday and that is likely to continue today if the problem is not resolved.

Community First Cooperative Credit Union has apologised to its clients and has promised to provide them with regular updates as they seek to resolve the problem.
