Clare Hall Secondary has captured this year’s Ministry of Sports Schools’ Cricket Under-15 30-Over Championship.
Clare Hall Secondary secured the title by pulling off a seven-wicket victory against Antigua Grammar School in the final at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG) on Friday.
The Antigua Grammar School was dismissed for 64 in 11.3 overs. Opener Leonaldo Drearey hit 30 not out off 36 balls, including four boundaries.
However, 26 extras, including 20 wides, were the next best contributor to the team’s total, as no other Antigua Grammar School batsman managed to reach double figures during their innings.
Ian Jerimiah grabbed five wickets for seven runs, Kisean Francis captured two for 20, while Charles Abbott and Jayden Charles each picked up a wicket.
In reply, Clare Hall Secondary achieved victory by racing to 65 for three in 7.3 overs. Opener Jayden Charles slammed 28 off 21 balls, including five fours.
Charles Abbott hit 18 not out off of nine balls, including two fours and a six. There was also a contribution of 14 extras, including 13 wides.
Deshawn Hoyte took one wicket for four runs, Isiah Harris picked up one wicket for seven runs, and Leonaldo Drearey captured one for 35.
Both teams booked their spot in the final by securing victories in the semi-finals last Wednesday. Antigua Grammar School claimed a 10-wicket victory against All Saints Secondary at the Rising Sun playing field.
All Saints Secondary was dismissed for 44 in 12 overs. In reply, Antigua Grammar School achieved victory by scoring 45 without losing a wicket.
Clare Hall Secondary clinched a four-wicket win against Jennings Secondary at the Clare Hall playing field.
Jennings Secondary was restricted to 70 for eight in 11.2 overs. In reply, Clare Hall Secondary achieved victory at 72 for six in 10.3 overs.
Pares Secondary won this year’s Ministry of Sports Schools’ Cricket Under-19 30-Over Championship. Pares Secondary crushed Antigua Grammar School by 81 runs in the final.
Pares Secondary made 193 for five off 28 overs and dismissed Antigua Grammar School for 112 in 15.1 overs.
