Police have identified the body of the man who was pulled out of a watercourse yesterday morning near the Ministry of Agriculture.
He is Alpha Tonge, formerly of Urlings.
The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown at this time, however, police have already ruled out foul play.
Tonge, clad in a red t-shirt and long brown pants, was found floating in East Country Pond after 9am.
It is believed that a passerby made the discovery, but this could not be confirmed.
A medical doctor arrived on the scene around mid-morning and pronounced him dead before ordering his body removed to a funeral home.
A postmortem examination is expected to be conducted on Tonge, who is believed to be in his seventies, to determine his cause of death.
