Delarno Davis, who appeared in Saint John’s Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning facing two charges of robbery, has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.

The Golden Grove New Extension teenager was caught on surveillance camera last Tuesday carrying out the armed, daytime robbery of a variety store on Corn Alley.

Davis made off with an undisclosed sum of cash, jewellery and electronic items valued at EC$30,973.00.

Police also linked the 18-year-old to the armed robbery of a supermarket on Fort Road on 4th  February, 2023.

Davis, who was captured on the business’ surveillance camera on 7th February wearing a ski mask and hooded shirt, is alleged to have pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded money.

He then reportedly threatened to shoot the cashier if they did not comply.

The employee handed over the money that was available in the cash register to the bandit, after which he made his escape.

Appearing in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh, Davis was not required to enter a plea as the offences he is charged with are indictable and, consequently, must be handled by the High Court.

He was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison until 27th April, 2023 when committal proceedings are due to commence in the case of the Fort Road robbery.

Committal proceedings for last week’s incident have been scheduled for 3rd May, 2023.
