Several immigration officers were recognized for their outstanding work and dedication at an awards ceremony held at the department’s headquarters on Sir Sydney Walling Highway on Thursday. The event, themed ‘Recognition Beyond the Badge,’ featured remarks by Minister E.P. Chet Greene and Chief Immigration Officer Katrina Yearwood, emphasizing the importance of character, competence, and compassion in immigration service.
Minister Greene highlighted the significance of staff appreciation, noting that it is essential for a motivated and high-performing organization. He promised to ensure regular recognition ceremonies in the future. CIO Yearwood also stressed the value of acknowledging officers who go above and beyond their duties.
The ceremony honored staff for exceptional work in 2023 and 2026. Minister Greene announced several promotions, including Maxine Lewis as the second Deputy Chief Immigration Officer and Wesley Simon as a Special Consultant for Training. Other notable appointments include Eustace Newton as Officer-In-Charge and Juliana Browne and Shawnita Nedd as Station Chiefs.
Senior Supervisory Level appointments were given to Stacey Bascus, Juliet Roach, Alisha Henry, Hanson Buckley, and Clarence Thomas. Junior Supervisory Level appointments went to Coretta Messiah-Browne, Anika Ambrose, and Louvincia Kirwan. Promotions from Grade 5 to Grade 4 included Sayhen Smith, Jahlyn Turner, Urika France, and others.
