A by-election was triggered following the resignation of the United Progressive
Party’s MP Kelvin Simon in June.
Simon is returning to contest the seat on his party’s behalf, while Senator Dwayne
George is the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s candidate.
As the nation awaits the date, Ian Hughes reiterates that all rules relating to a
general election will apply in the upcoming by-election, except that only eligible

Hughes is expected to receive his instruments of appointment sometime next week.
