A&B crush Anguilla to make winning start in LICB Three-Day contest

Antigua and Barbuda crushed Aguilla by eight wickets on the second day of their opening round match in the Leeward Islands Senior Men Three-Day Tournament at Conaree, St Kitts on Monday, 20th February.

Set exactly 100 runs to win, Antigua and Barbuda achieved their victory target for the loss of two wickets in 20.1 overs.

Essan Warner struck an unbeaten 50 off 50 balls with 9 fours while opener and captain, Kofi James, made 31.

The Antigua and Barbuda victory was set up by outstanding bowling performances by leg-spinner, Hayden Walsh Jr., and left-arm spinner, Glenton Williams, who both claimed six wicket hauls in Anguilla’s first and second innings.

Walsh snapped up 6 for 13 and Williams picked up 3 for 11 to dismiss Anguilla for 113 in their first innings in 52.5 overs.

Oliver Walker top scored with 34.

Antigua and Barbuda replied in with 175, all out, in their first innings.

James struck 36 and fellow opener Tyrone Williams contributed 32. Walker captured 4 for 24.

Trailing by 62 runs at the end of the first innings, Anguilla performed a little better in their second innings and were dismissed for 161 in 48.5 overs.

Williams grabbed 6 for 32 in 12.5 overs while Walsh claimed 2 for 42 in 10 overs.

Antigua and Barbuda will oppose Montserrat at Warner Park Stadium in St. Kitts in the second round of matches from 23rd to 25th February.

St. Kitts will oppose Anguilla at Conaree, St. Kitts while Nevis will challenge St. Maarten at the Elquemedo T. Willett Park in Nevis in the other two second round encounters.

In the final round of matches, Antigua and Barbuda will meet Nevis at the Elquemedo T. Willett Park and St. Kitts will tackle Montserrat at Conaree from 28th February to 1st March.

Anguilla and St. Maarten will clash in their final third round match at the Carib Lumber Ball Park in St. Maarten from 3rd to 5th March.
