The Ecclesiastical Commission and the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation have designated Thursday, September 10, 2026, as the National Day of Prayer under the theme “From Repentance to Restoration: Rebuilding Trust in the God of Our Nation.” The observance will run from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Churches across Antigua and Barbuda will open their doors throughout the morning and early afternoon for prayer within their communities. Religious leaders of various denominations will then engage with the media to discuss the importance of prayer, hopefulness, and giving thanks as the day culminates in a national gathering at the Antigua Recreation Ground from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The public is invited to join in prayer for mercy, hope, thanksgiving, and trust. “At least once per year, the Commission felt it was necessary to have a day where we can focus and look inward so that we can call out to God for His protection and direction,” said Dr. Emmanuel Elizèe, Chairman of the Ecclesiastical Commission. “Even in difficult times, this nation still has much to be grateful for. There’s a biblical precedent to bless all nations that remember God, the protector and provider of us all,” he added. The Ecclesiastical Commission and the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation encourage all citizens and residents to take part in the day’s events and join them at the Antigua Recreation Ground for the closing national gathering as the nation comes together in prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving.
