The Rotary Club of Antigua has donated a set of equipment to the School for the
Blind and Visually Impaired to help it to better meet the needs of its students.
A brief presentation ceremony was held recently where the equipment was handed
over to the school. Among those present at the ceremony was the District Governor
(DG) Brian Glasgow who is visiting Antigua as part of his official visit to interact
with and observe some of the projects being undertaken by Rotary Clubs in
Antigua.
In making the donation to the institution’s representatives, Josette Cannonier and
Noella Moses, President of the Rotary Club of Antigua Michael Spencer explained
that the gesture is in keeping with the Club’s focus this year, raising awareness
about disabilities.
The donation included: electric kettle, microwave, ink, USB cords, a white board,
markers and card stock printing paper. The school’s representatives expressed
profound gratitude to the Club for the needed supplies.
Meanwhile, as part of his official journey, DG Glasgow paid a courtesy call to the
Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams on Monday. He also visited the T.N
Kirnon Primary School’s computer lab, which was also outfitted with a Peace
Shelf, and also visited classrooms at the School for the Deaf.
On Tuesday, he witnessed the symbolic unveiling of a “Peace Pole” with the
Interactors at the Christ the King High School.
