Works Department to Undertake Building Audit
Friday 15th February, 2019-The Ministry of Works is undertaking an audit of all buildings owned and/or occupied by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.
In a statement, Permanent Secretary Clarence E. Pilgrim said the purpose of the audit is to ensure that buildings are being utilized for the purposes for which they are intended.
Pilgrim also stated that given the need to effect repairs to certain buildings, temporary re-location of both personnel and resources may become necessary.
The audit will commence on February 25th and end two (2) weeks later.
A Building Maintenance Unit will be established within the Ministry of Works with responsibilities for the repair and refurbishment of all government-occupied buildings that are in need of upkeep. The Unit will clean the properties and will also have the responsibility to ensure proper aeration of the buildings, repair leaks, and will be charged with ensuring regular service checks are carried out on the properties.
