Wednesday 3rd October, 2018-Western Union Money Transfer closed its operations in Antigua today.

Grace Kennedy Money Services has withdrawn as the agents for the international money transfer in Antigua.

On September 28th, the company ceased outbound transactions, and today, it was the end of inbound transactions, that is, people collecting monies sent from overseas.

The exact reason behind the closure is not known. The money transfer company closed its doors earlier this year for two months for unknown reasons. However, the company was quick to deny allegations that it was due to its failure to comply with laws relating to anti money laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act.

The money transfer company had been operating in Antigua since 2006.

There were at least five Western Union outlets on island.
