Wayne Thomas, also known as “Bubbler,” of Buckleys, who was wanted by police in connection with an ongoing investigation, has surrendered.

The 30-year-old suspect turned himself in at St. John’s Police Station around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, 18 June, accompanied by his attorney.

A wanted bulletin was previously issued for Thomas, as police sought to question him in relation to a shooting incident that occurred in Freetown on Monday, 16 June.

It is believed that Thomas was in the company of Cadaphe Evanson on Monday night when a shootout took place between Evanson and the police. He is believed to have escaped the police dragnet just prior to the shootout.

The Police Administration wishes to thank the general public for their cooperation and continued support. The police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors and encourage anyone with information related to this case or other criminal activities to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

Meanwhile, the police have arrested and charged a 39-year-old Jamall Prince of Seatons with unlawful possession of one (1) 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, and unlawful possession of fifteen (15) 9mm rounds of ammunition.

Around 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, 17 June, police officers were at Seatons conducting an operation when the accused ran from a property. The officers pursued and apprehended him and, recovered the illegal weapon. He was arrested and taken into custody and subsequently charged for the offences.

The police continue to intensify their efforts to remove illegal firearms from off the streets, and are also encouraging members of the public to report any suspicious activities by contacting the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

Prince was expected to appear before the court on Wednesday.
