The government has announced portfolio changes for two of the youngest members appointed as Ministers of State.

A government release said Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Senator the Hon. Shenella Govia, and Minister of State, Senator Clement Antonio, have been reassigned to new ministerial portfolios within the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

Effective Monday, 13 October, Senator Govia will assume the role of Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Works, following her tenure in the Ministry of Education, Sport and Creative Industries.

Meanwhile, Senator Clement Antonio, who formerly served in the Ministry of Housing and Works, will take up duties as Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Sport and Creative Industries, with special responsibility for the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission.

Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne noted that both senators — among the youngest currently serving —are being given new reassignments as part of the Government’s rotation policy aimed at broadening their experience and strengthening the governance framework.

The appointments were made under the authority of Section 69 (4) of the Constitution of Antigua and Barbuda, which empowers the Prime Minister to appoint ministerial offices other than that of Prime Minister, with the Governor-General issuing the formal instruments of appointment.
