Two males have been remanded in prison awaiting sentencing after they pleaded guilty to separate charges for the illegal possession of cannabis.
In the first case, Dwain Branche of Grays Farm, who operates a shop/bar at Pigotts, was arrested and charged after the police conducted a search of his business on August 29 at 11:55 pm.
He was informed by the lead officer that they had a search warrant permitting them to conduct a search of the premises. During the search some bushy substance resembling the controlled drug cannabis was found in a zip-type plastic bag. When asked by the officer to whom did the substance belong, Branche admitted that it belonged to him. He was arrested and on Monday he made a court appearance where he pleaded guilty to the charge. He is to re-appear in court on Friday for sentencing.
In the other matter, two people Orville Nedd and Crystal Jeffers of Pigotts were arrested and charged with the possession of 1.3 pounds of cannabis, contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Nedd pleaded guilty and the charges against Jeffers were withdrawn. Nedd is to return to court on Monday for sentencing.
