The Magistrate’s Court is hearing a case where a trio is charged with larceny in connection with the theft of agricultural products from a farm in the Lightfoot West area.
Charged are; Jermaine Julian and Dawn Berry of Lightfoot West and Brionne Simon of Freetown. They are charged with the larceny of 99 coconuts valued at $495.00, 26 finger rose valued at $130.00, 7 sugar canes valued at $35.00, 40 custard apple valued at $80.00, guavas valued at $30.00, papayas valued at $46.00, and green papayas valued at $15.00. The overall cost of the products is placed at $831.00.
According to the police report the products were being grown on lands belonging to Maynard Strann of Lightfoot West. The incident happened on Sunday this week.
Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel who is hearing the case has adjourned the matter until May 26. The defendants have been granted bail and are to re-appear in court when the case resumes.
