The first in a series of training sessions for volunteers for the ICC Cricket T20
World Cup took place on Saturday at the Villa Polytechnic.
Approximately one hundred and thirteen (113) persons attended the training
session that is a critical part of the hosting responsibilities of Antigua and Barbuda
as one of six host destinations in the Caribbean for the cricket matches.
The training was facilitated by volunteer lead, Ayana Dorsette, with assistance
from Caleb Gardiner and Sanka Riley. The topics covered include; Functioning as
a team, Organizing yourself in the work place, Service excellence – Quality
Customer Service and Risk and Safely
Junior Minister in the Ministry of Sports, Senator Shenella Govia, who is
spearheading this aspect of the preparation, expressed her delight at the enthusiasm
shown by the volunteers during the T20 World Cup preparation training. “The
participants demonstrated their excitement about Antigua and Barbuda hosting the
event, their willingness, and readiness to contribute, pledging their commitment to
ensuring the success of the undertaking. I am confident that they will do Antigua
and Barbuda proud,” she stated.
