A town hall meeting to discuss with the public, and to get feedback on the US$80
million expansion of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus (UWI
FIC) will take place at the institution on Thursday night.
The event is a joint undertaking of the Antigua and Barbuda government and the
UWI FIC. The meeting will not only discuss the expansion of the campus but also
the relocation of the Five Islands Primary School.
“The town hall meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the Five
Islands community and the general public to learn more about the expansion plans,
ask questions, and share their feedback.”
“Representatives from the Ministry of Education and The University of the West
Indies Five Islands Campus will be on hand to answer questions and provide
information,” a media release from The University stated.
According to the release, the expansion of The University of the West Indies Five
Islands Campus is a major undertaking that will have a significant impact on the
community. The expansion will include the construction of new academic and
administrative buildings, student housing, and sports and recreation facilities.
“The relocation of the Five Islands Primary School is necessary to accommodate
the expansion of The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus. The new
school will be located on a nearby property and will feature state-of-the-art
facilities,” the release noted.
The release added that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and The
University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus are committed to working with
the community to ensure that the expansion of the campus and the relocation of the
Five Islands Primary School are successful. The town hall meeting is an important
opportunity for members of the community and the general public to get involved
and learn more about these important projects.
The public is invited to attend the town hall meeting and share their feedback.
