Top CSEC Student Calls for Unity in Nation Building

Wednesday 31st October, 2018-A call for togetherness in nation building from Keondre Herbert, the nation’s top student in the May/June 2018 CSEC Examinations.

Herbert along with Stephanie Archibald and Shamara Yearwood, were awarded this morning by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams for their academic achievements. Stephanie Archibald was named top student in the 2018 Grade Six National Assessment, while Shamara Yearwood was recognized for being named the 2018 Island Scholar.

Addressing his peers at this year’s youth rally, Keondre Herbert reminded them of the responsibility they have to continue to build on the successes of the nation’s forefathers, who worked int he development of Antigua and Barbuda. He said it can only be achieved through togetherness.

The former St. Joseph’s Academy Head Boy underscored the importance of education and appealed for students to assist each other during their school years.

Keondre Herbert secured 20 passes at the Grade One level in the recent sitting of the CXC administered CSEC examinations. As a result of his performance, he was named Most Outstanding Student in Antigua and Barbuda and the Region.

Now enrolled in an International Baccauleraute Programme at Island Academy, Keondre Herbert intends to pursue a career in medicine, specializing in Neuroscience.
