Timeline Set for Quarry Workers to Receive Overtime
Tuesday 19th March, 2019-The Works Minister has given an undertaking that all quarry workers will be paid overtime owed to them within a three-month period.
Employees at Burma quarry are refusing to work extra hours, contending it takes too long before they are compensated for the work they put in beyond their regular hours.
Minister Lennox Weston says everything is being done by the government to fulfill its financial obligations to the workers.
Minister Weston acknowledges the employees’ disappointment, but he hopes they will continue to be committed to the task as government takes steps to compensate them.
