It was a rare occurrence for Antigua Carnival, following the introduction of local
songs for the Road March title back in the early 1970s, that there has ever been a
result like the one that transpired on J’ouvert morning this year.
Three songs were played equally on the road on J’ouvert morning and all three
artists will be sharing the Road March title. The official Carnival results named the
artists Ricardo Drue with his Last Man Standing, Claudette Peters’ Nat U, and
Empress with Let It Rain.
According to the results, the songs were played a total of twenty-five times as the
bands passed the designated judging points.
Meanwhile, it was an Insane carnival as the mas troupe wrapped up winners in
most major categories. The Insane band won T-Shirt Mas, Monday Wear, and the
coveted Band of the Year titles.
