Three men are to appear in court today following major firearms/ammunition haul

Three men – including one teenager- are to appear in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to answer charges related to a major firearms and ammunition haul following a police sting operation.

The police have reported that they arrested and charged 30-year-old Daquan George, 27-year-old Tanesha Martin, and 19-year-old Taliek Aska, all of Sutherlands for Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

On Wednesday, 31 July 2025, officers attached to the Gang and Guns Suppression Unit (GAGSU) executed a search warrant at a property in Sutherlands, and during the search, the officers seized a cache of ammunition and firearm-related items, which include:

▪ Eleven (11) 12-gauge shotgun rounds

▪ Seven (7) 9mm rounds

▪ Thirty-six (36) 7.62mm rounds

▪ Twenty (20) .22 rounds

▪ Twenty-three (23) .45 rounds

▪ Eighteen (18) .44 rounds

▪ Seventeen (17) .25 rounds

▪ Nine (9) .38 rounds

▪ Two (2) Smith & Wesson magazines

▪ One (1) Glock 9mm magazine

▪ One (1) Smith & Wesson .40 caliber magazine

▪ One (1) Sig Sauer 9mm magazine

▪ One (1) “Patent Pending” 9mm/.40SW speed loader, and

▪ One (1) flat-back Chinese AK-47 magazine

Following the discovery, the trio was taken into custody and subsequently charged for the offences. Their first court appearance has been set for Wednesday 6 August (today).
