Three attorneys from the Antigua and Barbuda justice system were among regional legal representatives attending a three-day conference marking the 20th anniversary of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) held in Trinidad.
The event was the 8th Biennial Conference of the CCJ Academy for Law that was held in Port of Spain from November 26-28 under the theme ‘CCJ at 20: Reflections on Caribbean Jurisprudence’.
In attendance were Senior Magistrate, Ngaio Emanuel, Family Court Registrar, Fanella Francis and Attorney in the Office of the Attorney General, Zachary Phillips.
“As the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) marks two decades of service to the region, the conference aimed at reflecting on the seminal developments in the Caribbean Jurisprudence from the CCJ and other courts in the region and explored the role of the CCJ and other stakeholders in the future development of Caribbean Jurisprudence,” the conference note stated.
The organisers say the conference provided a dynamic platform for stakeholders across the Caribbean to engage on the evolving landscape of Caribbean Jurisprudence.
Phillips was part of panel that discussed the topic; Structured conversation on law and sustainable development in the Caribbean: Issues for the future’.
