Third Murder Accused Remanded to Prison

Tuesday 8th May, 2018 –Earlfred James who is accused of murdering Fort road resident Kemmoy Jeffers was remanded to prison when he appeared in court today.

James who was on the run following Jeffers death surrendered to police last week, following repeated appeals from law enforcement officials.

The Dominican national appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh and was denied bail. If he wishes to be bailed, his attorneys must petition the High Court, since a magistrate cannot do so due to the charge he faces. He returns to court on June 28th, when committal proceedings will begin.

Earlfred James is the third person charged with Jeffers’ death.

Clarence Thomas and Raeleen Whynn are jointly charged with murder and were remanded to prison when they appeared in court last week.

The lifeless body of Kemmoy Jeffers was discovered next to a house in Fort Road approximately two weeks ago. His neck and left leg were tied.
