Monday 29th October, 2018-Embattled Commissioner of Police Wendel Robinson says “all possible legal options are on the table barring none,” in reaction to his suspension by the Police Service Commission for a second time.

On Friday, hours after Justice Godfrey Smith quashed the PSC’s suspension of Robinson and ordered his immediate reinstatement, the top cop was suspend again.

In a written response to a request for comment on the most recent development, Wendel Robinson told POINTE FM Nightly News, “I am actually disappointed that the PSC flaunt the decision of the High Court and suspend me again, on the basis that I have now been charged for offences under the Police Disciplinary Regulations, which do not apply to me.”

The suspended top cop stated that he will not comment on the specifics of the charges, but he is convinced that on his understanding of the law, “Special Constables have no authority to investigate disciplinary charges, more so to prefer charges against me.”

Wendel Robinson noted that his matter is riddled with errors, injustices and missteps that “even the blind can see.”

The commissioner’s first suspension handed down by the Police Service Commission was in  accordance with regulation 16 (a) of the Police (Discipline) Regulations, Cap 330, Volume 2 of the Laws of Antigua and Barbuda, Revised Edition 1992.

But in his decision, High Court Justice Godfrey Smith found in part that the section under which the top cop was suspended could not be applied to persons who hold the rank of Inspector and higher. Mr. Robinson’s reinstatement was ordered with immediate effect.

But the PSC served Mr. Robinson with another suspension, this time, under another regulation, Section 105 of the Constitution.

The embattled top cop says he maintains and will continue to maintain that “it was a plot to remove me from office and I have an abundance of evidence to support that.”

The Commissioner of Police was removed from his position several months ago, after allegations of questionable conduct were leveled against him by male officers and civilians.
