Two of three men who reportedly abandoned a car and fled during a police chase
on Wednesday afternoon have been detained by law enforcers. The men were held
during a pre-dawn police operation at a house in Five Islands on Thursday.
The third man reportedly jumped from a two-storey building and eluded law
enforcers.
On Wednesday, law enforcers seized a vehicle they were chasing after its
occupants abandoned it and fled. Police say they spotted the silver Toyota Mark X
which they suspected had been used during a robbery at a superette in Cedar
Valley late Wednesday afternoon. Police were in hot pursuit when the robbers
abandoned the vehicle in the St Johnston's Village area, shortly before 6 pm. The
loot left in the car was a cash register they had allegedly stolen from the superette
and cellular phones.
Police say the Mark X may have also been used by hoodlums, to commit other
criminal activities.
The police are asking anyone with information that can assist law enforcers to
capture the remaining robber, to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at
462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
